- Serpent Earth snapshots public-domain Egyptian works from The Metropolitan Museum of Art Egyptian Art department and the Cleveland Museum of Art. British Museum pages stay citations only. We do not scrape closed image APIs.
- Are these Egyptian art images public domain?
- Yes. Harvest keeps a record only when the museum marks the work public domain or CC0 and supplies an image. Credit line, accession number, and the museum object URL appear on every card and object page.
- Does Serpent Earth call museum APIs when I open a page?
- No. Pages read a static JSON snapshot committed in the repository. Harvest scripts run offline for operators. That keeps encyclopedia pages accurate when an API is down.
- Why do deity pages show fewer objects than the gallery?
- The gallery can list every validated snapshot row. Encyclopedia embeds show only objects a human mapped to that deity or wisdom topic. Unmapped rows stay in the gallery.
